Breda Vosters

Breda Vosters is the Director of Grants and Information at Resource Assistance for Youth, Inc. (RaY) in Winnipeg, located on Treaty 1 territory where she was born and raised. Her primary responsibilities include obtaining and maintaining funding agreements, data management, program evaluation and leading RaY’s research efforts alongside a team of highly skilled administrative staff who help manage these multi-faceted demands. In 2023, Breda completed her Master of Public Administration which has helped broaden her understanding of policy implementation across all levels of government and how the programming and people served at RaY are impacted by high level governance. She is hopeful these skills will help her to improve and expand the work of RaY as the organization works towards its ultimate goal of ending youth homelessness.

Caryn Birch

Caryn Birch, Director of Education and Training with RaY has worked in Career Development for the past 15 years with Winnipeg's diverse population. During this time Caryn has worked with different Winnipeg non-profits as well as with the Manitoba Government to support barriered Manitoban’s have access to the labour market and to post secondary opportunities. At RaY, Caryn oversees their 3 employment programs, Launch Pad, Lift Off and Growing Opportunities. These employment programs work with youth 18-29 to support them to enter the workforce in a supportive way, where the team walks shoulder to shoulder with participants to support them with their career goals.

Description

This presentation will focus on the way the integrated hub model of services at RaY works to create a safe and inclusive space for youth from all cultural backgrounds. The presenters will begin by providing a brief overview of RaY's services and programs, followed by a more detailed discussion of RaY's cultural programming and how cultural safety is created across the agency as a whole, especially for youth from marginalized backgrounds, including those with experience in the child welfare system.
