Serisha Iyar (she/her) is the Founder and Executive Director of Leading in Colour, a community organization dedicated to providing racialized youth with the necessary tools, resources and skills training needed to conduct advocacy efforts in and for their communities. Originally from Montreal and now residing in Ottawa, she operates her work on foundational frameworks of anti-oppression. Serisha graduated from McGill University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & World Religions and currently works in international human rights advocacy.

 

 

Description

Social workers will use this webinar to discuss the work of Leading in COLOUR: a Canadian based grassroots organization. We are dedicated to equipping young, racialized leaders and activists with training that provides them with the necessary skills needed to conduct their advocacy efforts.

- The value of lived experiences with the system and its stakeholders (SWs)

- Defying the racialized community monolith; how different racialized communities are impacted and in what ways.
