Dr. Ami Goulden PhD, RSW

Dr. Ami Goulden is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Memorial University and a Registered Social Worker. She holds an MSW specializing in children and families from the University of Toronto, a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies from Mount Saint Vincent University, and a PhD in Social Work from the University of Toronto. Ami is the director of the Collaborative Anti-Ableism Research and Education in Social Work (CARES) lab, which is committed to advancing the field of social work through a multi-faceted approach that emphasizes disability justice, mixed-methods research, a strong emphasis on community needs, and a dedication to transformative practice.

Dr. Laura Pacheco, PhD, RSW

Dr. Laura Pacheco is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Memorial University and adjunct professor in the School of Social Work at McGill University. She holds a BSW and MSW from the School of Social Work at McGill University. She has lived experience with disability and has over a decade of community, practice and research experience in the field of parents and parenting with intellectual disabilities with collaborations both nationally and internationally. Laura’s research and practice areas include reproductive justice and mothering with a disability, intersection of parenting with an intellectual disability and the child welfare system, structural and intimate partner violence against women with disabilities, critically reflective practice, and community engagement.
