NATIONAL EATING DISORDER INFORMATION CENTRE
CALL FOR WORKSHOPS
6th Biannual Body Image & Self-Esteem Conference
May 11 & 12, 2017
The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) is pleased to be hosting its sixth bi-annual Body-Image and Self-Esteem Conference. The conference will be held at the Chestnut Conference Centre, Toronto on Thursday May 11 and Friday May 12, 2017.
This Conference is a unique opportunity in Canada to share and to learn more about the current research, evidence-based practices and innovative outreach in a multi-disciplinary, action-oriented environment.
We are currently seeking submissions for workshop sessions (75 or 90 minutes).
We invite contributions from individuals who may be working in either eating disorder research, treatment, or prevention (including critical media literacy and early intervention). This Call for Submissions should be considered guidance as to what potential topics may be suitable, and should not be considered exhaustive.
Conference 2017 is framed around the ideas of body acceptance, body equity, diversity, intersectionality, and self-esteem. Historically, portrayals of and research about individuals with eating disorders have not been fully representative of the diversity of individuals who are affected. Submissions are particularly welcomed from people who are working with eating disorders in marginalized and under-researched populations.
Attendees join us from many disciplines, and may include child and youth workers, dietitians, educators, fitness professionals, nurses, psychologists, public health professionals, social workers, and therapists, as well as affected individuals or their loved ones/caregivers.
The deadline for submissions is September 7, 2016. For further information or to submit a proposal, please go to http://www.nedic.ca/conference-2017-call-workshops.
